Carl J. Nyhof

Carl J. Nyhof, 79, of Oostburg died at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice on Tuesday April 15, 2025.

Carl was born to Gerald & Edna (Voskuil) Nyhof on July 19, 1945, in Oostburg. Carl attended Oostburg High School and later married Phyllis Blok on September 3, 1966.

Carl was a man of hard work and dedication as the owner of Carl Nyhof Trucking for over 50 years. A talented truck driver and resourceful man, he enjoyed designing, welding and building useful things from scrap metal.

Carl was a faithful member of Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan where he served as a trustee and groundskeeper.

He had a passion for collecting toys and a gift of storytelling and offering thoughtful advice to those around him. His greatest joy came from helping others, whether through a kind word, a listening ear, or his active service in the community. A man with a big heart, he left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Carl is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Nyhof of Oostburg, Donald (Lorie) Nyhof of Oostburg, Andrew (Karianne) Nyhof of Plymouth, Rodney (Sanna) Nyhof of Oostburg; eight grandchildren, David (Kendra) Nyhof, Stephanie (Josh) Arndt, Benjamin Nyhof, Alex Nyhof, Una, Elsi, Anya, and William Vander Waal; six great-grandchildren, Ryan and Aubrey Nyhof, Charlotte, Harper, Mallory, Theodore Arndt; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Blok, Margaret Ogez, Ellen McNeese, Dodie Blok; brother-in-law, Glen (Judy) Blok.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald & Edna Nyhof; parents-in-law, Abraham & Maud Blok, and a beloved daughter, Debra Alice Nyhof.

A funeral service will take place at Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 4930 Green Valley Lane in Sheboygan on Wednesday, April 23 at 11:00 am with Pastor De Jong officiating.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 22, at the Wenig Funeral Home of Oostburg from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and again on Wednesday at church from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Private burial will take place at Oostburg Cemetery.
