Carl John Joosse, 80, of Hingham, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Pine Haven Christian Home- Giddings Avenue Campus.Carl was born on February 16, 1938, in Town of Holland, to William and Lillian (TenHaken) Joosse. He was a graduate of Waldo High School and later served his country in the National Guard. On November 30, 1957, Carl married Diane Otte. Carl owned and operated his company, Lakeshore Pumping, for many years. Upon his retirement, he worked at Ogna Wood Products.He was a lifelong member of Hingham Reformed Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, member of the Jail ministry. Carl was a member of the Pine Haven Men's Chorus, church choir, and other music groups. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, camping, reading his Bible, and spending time with his beloved family. Carl showed a special kindness and care for those around him, demonstrating a servant's heart and compassionate spirit. Carl is survived by his loving wife, Diane Faye Joosse; two daughters, Wendy (Brad) Eckwielen, Jody (Kurt ) Thuemmler; two sons, Randall Joosse (Carrie Steidtmann), Steven (Terri) Joosse; 12 grandchildren; Andrea (Jon) Meerdink, Andrew Eckwielen, Meggie Eckwielen, Brandon, Evan and Sean Thuemmler, Josh (Laura) DePagter, Megan (Brian) Verheyen, Chelsey Joosse, Kate (Jake) Ratajczak, Alison (Scott) Simpson, and Maria Joosse; 7 great-grandchildren, Finn, Norah, Maeve, William, Brady, Brynn, and Kinsley; a sister, Mary Ann Moore; and a brother, Wayne (Verla) Joosse. Carl is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, William & Lillian Joosse; a grandson, Jason Joosse; and a brother-in-law, Richard Moore.A funeral service to celebrate Carl's life will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Hingham Reformed Church at 11 a.m. with Dr. Ken Moberg officiating. A private burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.Relatives and friends may greet the family at the Hingham Reformed Church on Friday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. A memorial fund is being established in his name for Hingham Reformed Church and Pine Haven Christian Communities.
