Carita Klein

Carita R. Klein, 92, of Kohler, was called to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. The former Carita Luehrs was born to Martin and Edna (Hotz) Luehrs on July 11, 1919, in Sheboygan. Carita attended Trinity Lutheran School where her father taught for 40 years. She graduated from Central High School in Sheboygan and Sheboygan County Normal School in Sheboygan Falls. Only July 1, 1944 Carita married Herbert H. Klein at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. The couple resided in Salina, Kansas during World War II and then lived in Sheboygan until 1951, when they moved to Kohler. Prior to marriage Carita taught 3 years at Schwartzwald Rural School in the Town of Herman, 2 years at Erdman State Graded School in the Town of Sheboygan. She taught at Trinity Lutheran School from 1963-1964, and in the 4th and 5th grades at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Sheboygan. Carita retired from teaching in 1984. Carita was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler where she served as a Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and week day religion class teacher. She was also a member and secretary of the former Ladies Auxiliary. Carita served on the Evangelism Committee and enjoyed quilting for Lutheran World Relief. All to God's Glory! She faithfully attended Bethany's Bible classes and volunteered for scripture reading. Carita carried on a card ministry of her own, making and sending messages to the ill and bereaved. She also was a tour guide for Walderhaus in Kohler for 25 years. Carita is survived by: one daughter, Dianna (Carroll) Spaulding of Amherst MA; two sons, Gary Klein of Eden Prairie, MN and Paul Klein of Madison; four granddaughters, Kari (Mark) Wagner, Erin Spaulding, Ellyn (Greg) Case, Lauren (Joseph) Schippers; three great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jack Wagner, and Madlyn Case; two brothers, Armin (Virginia) Luehrs of Bloomington, MN and Marvin (Margie) Luehrs of Sarasota, Florida; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Carita was preceded in death by her: parents; husband Herbert; one sister, Harriet (Donald) Campbell. Funeral services to celebrate Carita's life will at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler with Rev. Robert Steele officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery in the Village of Kohler. Relatives and friends may greet Carita's family from 4-7:00 pm on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler and one hour prior to the service Saturday. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Carita's memory for Bethany Lutheran Church and Sheboygan Lutheran High School.Reception:Bethany Lutheran Church222 Church StreetKohler, WI 53044
