Blanche Voskuil

Blanche Voskuil, 91, of Menomonee Falls and formerly of Oostburg, died on Friday night, May 4, 2012 at Kathy Hospice in West Bend. Blanche was born on July 21, 1920 in Oostburg, the daughter of Ben and Lena (Hesselink) TeRonde. She was a 1938 graduate of Oostburg High School. Blanche attended beauty school in Milwaukee and worked as a beautician in Sheboygan and had many clients while working out of her home. It was there that Blanche earned what was known to her family as her "hair money". On February 8, 1946 she married Ellis "Hunk" in Oostburg. Following their marriage they owned and operated the Knotty Pine Restaurant in Oostburg for 10 years until 1956. Hunk preceded her in death on March 29, 2012. Their love and devotion for each other was an example for so many to follow. Their marriage lasted 66 years. Even in death they will be together. Blanche was a member of First Reformed Church in Oostburg. She enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, and watching her favorite soap operas. Blanche never liked being the center of attention, but cherished being with friends and family, especially her weekly "kaffe klutch". She and Hunk enjoyed many winters in Florida. Blanche was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Blanche is survived by her two daughters, Mary (Gary) Tenpas of Menomonee Falls and Cindy Voskuil of Wauwatosa; one son, Ben Voskuil of Sheboygan; two grandchildren, Lisa (Tom) Scaffidi and Sara (Michael) Poos; five great-grandchildren, Catherine, Joseph, and Sophia Scaffidi and Elise and Claire Poos. Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis "Hunk"; her parents; a brother, Randall (Elenora) TeRonde, and a nephew, Randall TeRonde. A memorial service to celebrate Blanche's life will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 11, 2012 at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 am until the time of the service at 11 am. A memorial fund has been established in Blanche's name for the Salvation Army of Sheboygan.
