Betty Theune

Betty Lou Theune, 74, of W1816 W. VanEss Rd., Oostburg went home to her Lord on Thursday morning, January 8, 2009 at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center where she had resided for the past month. She was born on February 9, 1934 in the Town of Holland, the daughter of the late Lewis and Bernice (Hesslink) Walvoord. Betty graduated from Oostburg High School in 1952. On December 26, 1953 she married Warren Theune in Oostburg. Betty was a teacher aide for the Oostburg Elementary School for 24 years before her retirement in 1995. Betty was a lifetime member of First Reformed Church in Oostburg, where she was active in the choir, Ladies Trio, and the Ladies Guild. She was also a part of the Ladies Thursday Morning Golf League at Town and Country. She enjoyed singing, music, golf, flowers, sewing, card playing, watching the Green Bay Packers and traveling. Survivors include her husband, Warren; two daughters, Debra (Richard) Klompenhouwer of Manitou Springs, Colorado, Sandra (companion Linda Besser) Theune of Madison; four sons, Gary (Lori) of Cascade; William (Susan) of Oostburg, Conrad (Sandy) and Jim (Vicki) Theune, both of Gibbsville; twelve grandchildren, Dylan and Tess Klompenhouwer, Kayla Schneider, Jaclyn, Patience, and Will Theune, Stephanie, Adam, and Samantha Theune, Matthew, Elizabeth, and Jacob Theune; a sister, Ruth Ann (LeRoy) Pasket of Sheboygan; and two brothers, David (Janet) Walvoord and Jon Walvoord, both of Oostburg, She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg on Monday, January 12, 2009 at 10:30 am with the Rev. Wayne DeVrou officiating. Family services will precede at 10:15 in the fellowship hall. Burial will take place at Oostburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Sunday, January 11, 2009 from 2-6 pm and on Monday, at church, from 9:30 am until the time of services.
