Bernice M. Schueffner, 89, a lifetime Sheboygan Falls resident, died on Thursday evening, May 10, 2007 at Pine Haven Christian Home where she had resided the past two years. Bernice was born October 27, 1917 in the Town of Sheboygan Falls, a daughter of the late Arthur and Nellie (Houmes) Widder. She attended Sheboygan Falls Schools. Bernice married William J. Schaap on October 9, 1937 in Sheboygan Falls. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1980. On August 5, 1988 she married Harry A. Schueffner in the Town of Sheboygan Falls. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2000. Bernice was a cosmetics clerk at J.C. Penney Co. for 14 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls; Sheboygan Falls Homemakers; and various card clubs. She enjoyed dancing, card playing, driving her car, and housecleaning. Bernice had a warm personality with a quick and easy smile. Survivors include two sons, Richard (Lorraine) Schaap and Kenneth (Kathy) Schaap, both of Sheboygan Falls; six grandchildren, Lisa (Tom) Jansen, Lori (Jeff) Pribek, Mike (Mary) Schaap, Mark (Liz) Schaap, Dawn (Steve) Strehlow, Dean (Dawn) Schaap; 15 great grandchildren; one brother, Dr. Wayne (Lois) Widder of Wheaton, Ill.; four sisters-in-law, Lena Lauer, Arlen Schaap, both of Sheboygan Falls, Evelyn ( Gerald) Hofschield of Plymouth, and Elvira Schueffner of Sheboygan Falls; one step daughter, Sharon (Rev.Bob) Burmeister of Apple Valley, Minn.; one stepson, David (Nancy) Schueffner of Sheboygan Falls; nine step grandchildren; and six step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, granddaughter, Linda Schaap; and a sister, Delores (LeRoy) Mueller. Funeral services for Bernice will be held at 2:30 pm on Monday, May 14, 2007 at the First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Widder and Rev. Brad Veenendaal, officiating. Burial will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 11 am until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in her name for First Reformed Church and Pine Haven Christian Home. Online condolences may be sent to wenig@wenigfuneralhome.com.
