Bernice Huibregtse

Bernice J. Huibregtse, 92, of Gibbsville, passed away on Thursday evening March 25, 2010 at Terrace Estates in Sheboygan. Bernice was born on June 25, 1917 in the Town of Lima, daughter of the late J. William and Josie (Heinen) Onnink. She was a 1934 graduate of Oostburg High School. On April 20, 1938 she married Clarence Huibregtse in Gibbsville. Bernice was a lifelong member of Gibbsville Reformed Church where she taught Sunday school and bible classes. She volunteered for the Red Cross for many years. Bernice loved spending time with her family and was interested in her family genealogy. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family business. Survivors include Clarence, her husband of 71 years; two daughters, Beverly (Wayne) Hilbelink of Delevan and Jan (Wayne) Mentink of Corona, CA; one son, Barry (Judy) Huibregtse of Hingham; one daughter-in-law, Lynn (Wayne) Brasser of Hingham; six grandchildren, Brad (Betsy) Hilbelink of Marshfield, Dan (Kim) Hilbelink of Marshfield, Brian (Cathy) Huibregtse of Milwaukee, Kent (Carol) Huibregtse of Hingham, Damon (fiance' Michelle Dudley) Huibregtse of Hingham, Jessica (Michael) Davies of Hingham; 12 great-grandchildren, Avery, Ashley and Aaron Huibregtse of Hingham, Logan and Mason Davies of Hingham, Caleb and Parker Huibregtse of Milwaukee, Anna, Grace, Henry, Emma and Luke Hilbelink of Marshfield. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, one son Rodney, one infant daughter, three brothers and three step-sisters. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 29, 2010 at 11:00 am at Gibbsville Reformed Church with the Rev. Dr. Al Vander Meer officiating. Burial will take place in Gibbsville Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Sunday, March 28, 2010 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm and also at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Bernice's name for Gibbsville Reformed Church.
