Bernice A. Henning, 80, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, with her family by her side at Zilber Hospice in Wauwatosa.
Bernice Kohls was born to Arthur W. and Amelia J. (Clark) Kohls in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin on October 24, 1943. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School in Grafton before graduating from Oconomowoc High School in 1962.
On October 19, 1963, she married Edward C. Henning in Saukville. Bernice was a busy mother raising her five children but always enjoyed side jobs serving as a waitress at various places which was fitting for her servant heart.
She was an active member and volunteer at St. Paul Lutheran Church and a member of the Red Hat Society. Bernice enjoyed painting, knitting, bowling, reading her Bible, and doing puzzles and word searches. Above all, she cherished time with her family, especially being an active Grandma and Nana for her 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 61 years, Ed Henning; four children; Todd (DeeAnne) Henning and their children, Danielle (Derek), Jared (Victoria); Carrie (Daryl) Gavin and their children, Trisha, Megan (Josh), Ricky (Christen); Charles (Merrie) Henning and their children, Courtney and Rachel (Jake); Bradley (Rebecca) Henning and their children, Caleb, Nevaeh (Devin), Jordyn, and Jude; daughter-in-law, Christie and her children, Erica, Matthew (Miranda); 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Kohls and Donna Kohls; and many other beloved Henning, Ruhe, Nepp brothers and sisters-in-law. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and foster children that she and Ed cared for over the years.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jay Henning; parents, Arthur and Amelia Kohls; three siblings, Harold Kohls, Gertrude (Ray) Duman, and Donald Kohls; parents-in-law, Walter & Mary (Nepp) Henning.
