Barbara Ann Huibregtse, 74, of Belgium, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Columbia St. Mary’s Horizon Hospice in Mequon.

Barb was born on June 18, 1950, to Delmar and Dorothy (TenHaken) DeMaster in Oostburg. She graduated from Oostburg High School in 1968 and went on to UW-Stevens Point for two years. After college, she spent a year in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania with her aunt and uncle, Mary and Tom, working at their pharmacy and taking care of their children. She then returned to Oostburg where she worked at Heritage Insurance.

Barb was united in marriage to Don Huibregtse on May 26, 1973, at First Reformed Church in Oostburg. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Stevens Point, WI where she was employed at Sentry Insurance and UW-Stevens Point.

Barb was something of a sports enthusiast, enjoying golf, bowling, softball, volleyball, and biking. She also liked to spend time quilting, sewing and cooking. Always on the top of her list though was spending time with family, friends, and especially grandchildren.

Barb was an active member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Grafton and formerly, was a very active member of St. Paul’s Methodist in Stevens Point for nearly 40 years.

Family was very important to her as well as her grandchildren. Barb was blessed to have special time with Olivia, her granddaughter, for close to a year after she was born and many months with Callan, her grandson, after he was born.

Barb is survived by her husband of 51 years, Don; daughter, Valerie (Brian) Klippel of Grafton; grandchildren, Olivia and Callan Klippel; sister, Diane (Larry) VanStelle; sister-in-law, Francine DeMaster; siblings-in-law, Mike (Teri Neer) Huibregtse, Jane (Larry) Shaver, Julie (Greg) Radke, and Jeff (Andrea) Huibregtse; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
