Arvid W. Otto, 81, of Sheboygan Falls died on Saturday morning, August 20, 2011 at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center with his family at his side. Arvid was born on December 21, 1929 in Montello, the son of the late William and Alice (Preave) Otto. He attended Montello High School and then served in the US Army from 1951-53. He married Barbara Smith on June 26, 1955 in Princeton. Arvid worked for the Kohler Co. for 39 years in the casting and finishing department until his retirement in 1993. Arvid was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls where he served on the finance committee and the picnic committee. He was also a member of the Kohler Quarter Century club. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, polka music, woodworking, gardening, bus trips, trips to Oneida, and spending time with his grandchildren. Arvid is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara; one daughter, Linda (Robert) Koene of Sheboygan Falls; one son, Kenneth (Marilou) Otto of Sheboygan Falls; five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Joe) Howard, Sarah and Rebecca Koene, Rowan and Justine Otto; two sisters, Mardell Diamentis of Ripon and Mary (Daniel) Pischke of Montello; and one brother, Donald (Joan) Otto of Sheboygan Falls. Arvid was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Dorothy Otto and one brother, Roger Otto. A funeral to celebrate Arvid's life will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the St Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls with the Rev. Mark Janzen officiating. Entombment will follow at the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in the Town of Sheboygan. Friends may greet the family at the St Paul Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 9 am until the time of the service.
