Arthur Lensink

July 4, 1916 — December 9, 2010

Arthur "Art" J. Lensink, 94, of Terrace Estates, formerly of Oostburg, went home to his Lord on Thursday, December 9, 2010. Art was born July 4, 1916 in Cedar Grove, WI to Jacob and Angeline (Liefbroer) Lensink. After attending Cedar Grove grade school he graduated from the Wisconsin Memorial Academy in 1934. On October 5, 1937 Art married Nellie "Nell" Luteyn in Oostburg. He worked as a displayman at H.C. Prange for 15 years and in 1963 Art and Nell started Art's Displays on Riverfront Drive in Sheboygan. After retirement in 1979 they especially enjoyed the trips they made with their travel trailer. Nell passed away in 2007. During World War II Art served in the U.S. Army from 1945-46. He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg where he served as Deacon, Elder, and Sunday School Teacher. Together Art and Nell enjoyed the 12 years they were involved as volunteers in the Prison Ministry program at the Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution. Art enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, drawing and painting. He especially enjoyed picnics and outings with family members. He found much comfort in daily Bible Study. Art is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Henry) Ottens of Grand Haven, MI and Marcia (Tom) Boyd of Thiensville; two sons, Jack Lensink of Grand Rapids, MI and David (Sally) Lensink of Oostburg; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Eleanor LeMahieu of Oostburg; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Art was preceded in death by his: parents; wife, Nell, two sisters June Eggebeen and Beatrice Huibregtse. Funeral Services for Art will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 11:00 am at First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg with the Rev. Dr. Les Kuiper officiating. Burial will be in Hartman Cemetery in the Town of Wilson with military honors. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 3-5 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to the service. A memorial fund has been established in Art's name for the First Christian Reformed Church. Art's family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Morningside Nursing Home and Terrace Estates for their wonderful care and compassion.
