A. Jean Wieberdink, 84, of Cedar Grove, passed away after a lengthy illness on Tuesday evening, December 1, 2009 at Pine Haven Nursing Home. She is spending her 85th birthday celebrating her "new birth" into eternity. Jean was born on December 2, 1924 in Sheboygan Falls, daughter of the late Hilbert and Henrietta (Jensema) Dulmes. She was a 1944 graduate of Oostburg High School and from nursing school at Lakeshore Technical Institute. On June 26, 1944 she married Gordon Wieberdink at Gibbsville Reformed Church. Jean was a licensed Practical Nurse at St. Nicholas Hospital and the Sheboygan County Comprehensive Health Care Center for many years until her retirement in 1989. Following her retirement, Jean and her husband served several terms as lay missionaries to the United Arab Emirates. Jean was a member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove where she served as a Bible Class teacher and on the Dorcas Society. She enjoyed sewing, drama, music, cooking and traveling. Survivors include her husband, Gordon; one daughter, Linda (Lee) VandeWall; three sons, Larry (Ruth Ann) Wieberdink of Cedar Grove, Dennis (Elaine) Wieberdink of Henderson, NV, and Darrel (Jan) Wieberdink of Columbus, NE; 12 grandchildren, Karri (Gary) Konitzer, Rachel Tackes, Robert (Tamra) Wieberdink, Holly VandeWall, Erica (James) Wagoner, Randall (Barbara) Brockman, Christine (Christopher) Bath, Susan (Chris) Selthofner, Sherry Treu, Danielle Wieberdink, Adam Wieberdink, Nicole Wieberdink; eleven great grandchildren, Tyler Leuders, Mason Sweizer, Adam Selthofner, Matthew Selthofner, Ethan Tackes, Gavin Konitzer, Chase Konitzer, Sara Riazi, Julia Bath, Brooke Brockman, Joshua Brockman; one sister, Verla (Carl) Westerbeke of Oostburg; two sister-in-laws, LaVerne Wieberdink and Arlie Roerdink, both of Cedar Grove; two brother-in-laws, Ivan (Edith) Beernink and Leslie (Arline) Wieberdink, both of Cedar Grove. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Barbara (Stan) Verhelst, an infant brother; three brothers-in-law, Ernst Wieberdink, Robert (June Peterson) Wieberdink, and Audley Roerdink, two sisters-in-law, Muriel Beernink and Doris (LeRoy) Traas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 11 am at the Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove with the Rev. Ronald Beabout officiating. Burial will take place at the Presbyterian Cemetery in Cedar Grove. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 am until the time of the service.
