Anthony G. Kaat Sr., 89, formerly of Hingham, died Monday, February 26, 2007 at Pine Haven Residential in Sheboygan Falls. He was born September 29, 1917 in the Town of Wilson, the son of the late Gilles and Jessie (Price) Kaat. Anthony attended Lakeview School in the Town of Wilson. He served in the Army National Guard. On May 3, 1939 he married Mildred C. Harmelink in Hingham. Anthony was a machine operator at Kohler Company, Optenburg Ironworks, and Evinrude Motors and Ongna Wood Products. He also owned Hingham Grocery Store for 18 years. Anthony was a member of Hingham Reformed Church where he served as an elder. He was a member of Senior Citizens and Hingham Athletic Association. Anthony enjoyed woodworking, gardening and reading. Survivors include his wife, Mildred; three sons, David (Barbara) of Oostburg, Anthony Jr. (Carol) of Hingham, Daniel (Ann) Kaat of Madison; one son-in-law, Gordon (Romaine) Bruggink of Oostburg; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; three brothers, Gilles (Helen) of Florida, Edward (June) of Plymouth, and Donald (Betty) Kaat of Rib Lake. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Richard, Wesley; one daughter, Mariette, and two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Kaat and Marion Kaat. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at Hingham Reformed Church, with the Rev. Steven J Bakker, pastor, officiating. A family service will precede at 5:45 p.m. Burial will take place at Hingham Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday, from 4:00 p.m., until the time of services.
