With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alvin “Bud” Severson, a beloved husband, father, and friend, who departed from this world on February 15, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on April 19, 1935, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, Al lived a life rich in love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Al was the son of Alvin O. Severson, Ruth M. Fenske, and stepmother, Lorraine Severson. In 1962, he met and married Patricia (DeRemer) Severson, and together they built a strong and supportive family anchored in love, laughter and service.
He was a proud father to his three children: Chris (Steve) Hellner, Curt (Tami) Severson, and Kari (Tom) Buechel and was an active grandfather to seven grandchildren: Taylor and Carsen Severson, Patrick and Clinton (Felicia) Hellner, and Grace, Hunter and Blaise Buechel. He took immense pride in cheering them on at their school, recreational and sporting events.
Al completed his education at Princeton High School and the Wausau Technical Institute and also served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps with stations in Japan and Korea. He raised a community focused family in Sheboygan Falls and took special joy in coaching youth baseball and football and then officiating countless football, baseball and softball games for over 25 years.
Al was known for his dry wit and his willingness to lend a helping hand to family and friends for projects big and small. He enjoyed the peacefulness of hunting, fishing, gardening, and puttering in the woods and remained a loyal fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs.
Following his wishes, there will be no formal visitation or service. In honor of Al’s memory, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice or the Sheboygan Falls Community Recreation Department.
