Alvera Peters

Alvera Peters, 87, of Milwaukee and formerly of Oostburg died on Friday afternoon, February 27, 2015 at Columbia St Mary Hospital in Mequon. Alvera was born on October 28, 1927 in the Town of Holland, the daughter of John W. and Ruby (Lemmenes) Plopper. She graduated from Oostburg High School in 1945. On October 21, 1951 Alvera married the late Carl E. Peters in Cedar Grove. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1992. Alvera was a longtime member of New Life Community Church in Milwaukee. She enjoyed bowling, gardening and her grandchildren. Alvera is survived by one daughter, Debra (Jeffrey) Lewin of Oostburg; one son, Carl T. Peters of Glendale; four grandchildren, Christopher (Tina) Lewin, Jennifer Lewin, Andrew (Lianne) Peters and Sara Peters; and two great grandchildren, Jordyn and Peyton Lewin. A private family funeral to celebrate Alvera's life will take place at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday, March 6, 2015 with the Rev. Willem Houts officiating. Burial will take place at the Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Family and friends will gather for a public memorial service at 1 pm on Monday, March 9, 2015 at New Life Community Church, located at 11919 W. Bradley Road, Milwaukee.
