Alma Ramaker

Alma Ramaker, 95, formerly of Oostburg, and a resident at Prairie Crossing, passed away on Saturday evening, May 21, 2011, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. Alma was born on June 17, 1915, in the Town of Lima, daughter of Ellis and Delia (TenPas) Ver Gowe. She was a 1932 graduate of Oostburg High School. On July 22, 1936, she married Allen Ramaker in the Town of Lima. Allen preceded her in death on January 26, 1992. Alma was a lifelong member of Gibbsville Reformed Church, where she was active in the Women's Missionary Society. Alma enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and freezing food, caring for house plants, stamp and coin collecting, reading, and clipping newspaper memorabilia. Alma is survived by six sons, Ronald (Ruth) Ramaker of Brown Deer, Daniel (Karen) Ramaker of Branson, MO, David (Beverly) Ramaker of Springfield, VA, Stanley (Bonnie) Ramaker of Fond du Lac, Philip (Joan) Ramaker of Oostburg and Wendell (Diane) Ramaker of Oostburg; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Edith Jagerink of Sheboygan; one brother-in-law, Hubert Ramaker of Prairie du Sac; other relatives and friends. Alma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen; two sisters, Mabel Warner and Arlie Debbink; one brother, Clarence Ver Gowe. Funeral services to celebrate Alma's life will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at 10:30 am at Gibbsville Reformed Church with the Rev. John Ornee officiating. Interment will take place in Gibbsville Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, from 4-8 pm at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg and from 9:30 to 10:15 am Wednesday at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Alma's name for the Gibbsville Reformed Church and Prairie Crossing.
