Alma Messner

Alma E. Messner, 90, formerly of Riverside Drive, Kohler, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2010 in Cape Girardeau, MO. Alma was residing at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau for the past 7 months. Alma was born on September 26, 1920 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Fred and Theresa (Kunz) Richter. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran Grade School in Sheboygan. On August 24, 1940 she married Kenneth E. Messner at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Ken preceded her in death on July 8, 1993. Alma was employed as a clerical worker at the Kohler Company and previous to that a florist with the Sheboygan Greenhouse. Alma was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler where she served in LWML, the Altar Guild and the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing Bridge, making bread and socializing with friends. Alma loved her family dearly and will be remembered by her neighbors for her thoughtful acts. Alma is survived by her daughter, Debra (Jeff) Martin of Jackson, MO; one daughter-in-law, Monica Messner of Plymouth; one son-in-law, Carl Allmann of Plymouth; nine grandchildren, Lori Allmann of Sheboygan Falls, Scott (Shelly) Allmann of Plymouth; Mark (Sandy) Allamnn of New Holstein, Carla Allmann of Oshkosh, Melissa (Curt) Steinhaus of Glendale, Michelle (Tom) Bohm of Oostburg, Michael Messner of Milwaukee, Jessica (Shane) Goodwin of Jackson, MO and Julie Martin of Hyde Park, Ny; 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law Harriet Richter of Manitowoc. Alma was preceded in death by her husband Ken, daughter Nancy Allmann, son Ken "Lonnie" Messner, sister Frieda (Lester) Prange and her brother Walter Richter. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11:00 am at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler with the Rev. Robert Steele officiating. Burial will take place in Woodland Cemetery in Kohler. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 until the time of the service at 11:00 am. A memorial fund has been established in Alma's name for Bethany Lutheran Church and Sheboygan Lutheran High School.
