Allan Wynveen

August 22, 1945 — March 19, 2012

Allan J. Wynveen, 66, of Oostburg, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Froedtert Memorial Hospital in Wauwatosa. Allan was born on August 22, 1945, in Sheboygan, son of Edwin and Henrietta (Davies) Wynveen. He was a 1963 graduate of Oostburg High School and received his BS degree with honors from UW-Milwaukee and MS in Science and Biology from UW-Oshkosh. On June 19, 1965 Allan married Gay Guenther in Sheboygan Falls. Allan taught high school biology and chemistry for nine years in Cedarburg, Cambria, and Independence, WI. While he loved teaching, his true love was coaching basketball, track and football. He stayed connected with many of those students throughout his life, attending their class reunions, and visiting over the years. Allan was in the insurance business since 1978 managing the Principal Group Brokerage office for 25 years, then merging with Highland Capital Brokerage in Milwaukee in 2005. He loved the friendships and loyalty of his business associates and brokers. Allan was an active member of First Reformed Church in Oostburg where he served as a deacon, elder, Vice President of Consistory, Men's Ministry, Drama Ministry, and served as a Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Pine Haven Christian Home Board, Gideon's International, H.O.G. and the NRA. Allan served as president of the Random Lake Association. He was director of Camp Calvin in Sussex for over eleven years. Allan enjoyed motorcycling, woodworking, water sports, gardening and yard work, fishing, fitness training, playing sheepshead and cribbage. Allan was an avid hunter enjoying the hunt of all kinds with many trophies on the wall. His Harley and biker friends gave him great joy on the open road. Random Lake life was greatly anticipated. Allan spent countless hours working on the new lake house and the yard. The whole family has already spent a lot of time boating, doing water sports, sitting on the big porch, enjoying meals, and just enjoying each other's company. His grandsons enjoyed shooting air guns, water skiing, tubing and wrestling with their Papa. Allan's granddaughter, Eliana, was the apple of his eye. He loved singing and playing with Elie, and telling everyone "Elie stories". The unconditional love shared by Popie and Elie is a precious thing. Of all the hats Allan wore, the hat that fit best was husband, father, and papa. Allan is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gay; two daughters, Jessica (Christopher) Fashun of Goshen, IN and Jocelyn Wiebe of Oostburg; three grandchildren, Eliana Fashun and Benjamin and Thomas Wiebe; two sisters, Joyce (Rev.
