Alice (Clavers) Bahlow Age 97 ½, has joined her loving husband, Edwin in Gods kingdom. Alice passed away Saturday evening, December 19, 2009 at the Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her family. Alice was born on May 10, 1912 in the town of Sheboygan, the daughter of the late Jake and Meta (Niemann) Clavers. She attended school at Weedan Station, and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1930. Alice married Edwin Bahlow on August 14, 1936 in the parsonage of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls where she was a life-long member. She belonged to the ladies auxiliary and St. Paul seniors, volunteered at Bethesda store and Rocky Knoll. She was also a member of the Mapledale Homemakers club. Together Alice and Edwin farmed in the town of Sheboygan Falls for 26 years. They then moved to Kohler where her husband worked for the Kohler Farms, when on the farm they worked in shares with Kohler. Edwin passed away on Jan. 29, 1972. She then moved to Sheboygan Falls. While still in school Alice worked at Woolworths and after graduation she worked for H.C. Prange Co. for 12 years. She worked in custodial work at the Kohler Co. and the Kohler Credit Union for 17 years. Alice was a life member of AARP from its beginning. She was a former member of the Kohler Women's Club and the Sheboygan Falls seniors. She belonged to several card clubs. She loved to do crafts, word search, crochet, and embroidery. She loved helping others, enjoyed her many friends, and being with her family. Surviving Alice are her two daughters Carol Eckardt of Howards Grove and Joyce Loy of Sheboygan. She also is survived by three grandchildren, Robert (Lisa) Eckardt of Ada, Karen Regan of Howards Grove, and Jim Shird of Chicago, Ill.; three great-grandchildren Adam Eckardt, Brandon Eckardt, and Alfred Regan. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edwin, one brother Harriet (Beata) Clavers, two sons-in-law Alfred Eckardt and Peter Loy. Alice will be remembered as a woman with many friends who loved to play cards, volunteer and visit the sick. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and her best friend Hazel Born. The family would like to thank the staff at Pine Haven Christian Home and Assisted Living for the wonderful care given to their mother while there. Funeral Services for Alice will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with Rev. Mark Janzen officiating. Interment will be in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at the church. A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Pine Haven Christian Home.
