Alfred "Al" Lenning, 91, formerly of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on July 1, 2016, at the Brookdale Peachtree Assisted Living Facility in Statesville, NC. Born September 6, 1924 in Duluth, MN, he was the seventh of eight children born to Norwegian immigrants John and Olga Lenning. Alfred served his country during WW2 in the US Navy, stationed aboard the USS Strong in the Pacific Theater. Since 1984, he was a member of the USS Strong Association and enjoyed going to their annual reunions. He was employed by Kohler Company for 34 years until his retirement in 1988 and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. After he retired, Alfred and Annette moved to TN, then NC to be closer to their daughter, Janet. Alfred enjoyed following the sports teams of both MN and WI. He also enjoyed following golf and NASCAR. He is survived by his daughter Janet (Don) Easterling of Statesville, NC; son Jerry (Silvia) Herman of Madison, TN; three granddaughters, Brandy, Victoria and Jennifer; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Ben and Briannica; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Bergliot "Birdie" Fairchild, Ingaborg Protho, Clara Dahlen and Esther Matuzak; three brothers, Carl "Walt", Conrad and John Jr.; his daughter, Carol Lenning; and recently his wife of 68 years, Annette (2-1-16). A graveside service will be held at the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery on Wednesday, Aug 10, 2016 at 10am with the Rev. Toby Thomack officiating.
